Le Lindy Hop est né en 1927 au Savoy Ballroom de Harlem, grâce à Franky Manning, Leon James, Norma Miller et bien d'autres. A l'époque, pour 75 cents on dansait toute la nuit sur la musique de deux big bands tels que ceux de Benny Goodman ou Count Basie, qui alternaient non stop sur scène.

Nous découvrîmes le Lindy Hop en 1990 grâce à Franky Manning, puis en 1994 à Lyon avec Frank Balbin qui nous fit découvrir tous les grands stages internationaux. Aujourd'hui, cette danse, momentanément oubliée, renaît partout dans le monde : à Londres, NYC, Singapour, Toulouse, et les adeptes sont de plus en plus nombreux.

Grâce au Tuxedo big band de Paul Chéron, nous avons redécouvert la dynamite explosive d'un big band jouant en direct la musique de Jimmy Lunceford, Count Basie, Chick Webb... Nous avons ressenti les émotions qu'éprouvaient les lindy hoppers des années 30 tant l'osmose entre danseurs et musiciens est fondamentale dans cette danse.

Grâce à Ornicar nous avons la preuve que le Jazz contient en lui la danse populaire, puisqu'un compositeur ignorant jusqu'à l'existence du Lindy Hop avait sans le savoir composé des úuvres pour nous.

Enfin, nos fréquents déplacement à l'étranger, notamment à New York City, pour découvrir tous les lieux où le Lindy Hop se danse aujourd'hui, nous ont amenés à entendre pas mal d'orchestres. Le constat s'impose : ni le Tuxedo, ni Ornicar n'ont quoi que ce soit à leur envier ! Vous avez sous la main ce qui se fait de mieux dans le genre aujourd'hui...

The Lindy Hop was born in 1927 at the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, thanks to Franky Manning, Leon James, Norma Miller and many others. At that time, for 75 cents, one could dance all night to the music of two big bands like those of Benny Goodman or Count Basie, which alternated non-stop on stage.

We discovered the Lindy Hop in 1990 because of Franky Manning, then in 1994 in Lyon with Frank Balbin who introduced us to all the grand international training classes. Today, this dance, temporarily forgotten, is being revived all over the world: in London, NYC, Singapore, and Toulouse. There are more and more followers.

Thanks to Paul Chéron 's Tuxedo big band, we have rediscovered the explosive feeling of a live big band playing the music of Jimmy Lunceford, Count Basie, Chick Webb, etc. We have felt the emotions that the Lindy hoppers of the 30's felt since the osmosis between dancers and musicians is fundamental to this dance.

Thanks to Ornicar we have the proof that popular dance is inherent in Jazz, since a composer who didn't know of the existence of the Lindy Hop had composed pieces for us without knowing it.

Finally, in our frequent trips abroad, especially to New York City, to discover the places where Lindy Hop is danced today, we have heard many orchestras. We can confirm that neither Tuxedo, nor Ornicar have any reason to be jealous! You have in your hands the best there is in this field today.
